This starts the Monroe County Assembly districts from scratch with some significant changes. The Greece/Charlotte/Maplewood district stays the same, but the Irondequoit/City/Brighton district is taken apart. Instead, Irondequoit is combined with Webster and Penfield. Brighton would be moved into a district with Penfield and Henrietta. Perinton, Pittsford, and Mendon would be put into a district with some of Ontario County. The rest of the county is combined into another district.

This is a slight revision of the proposed State Senate districts for Monroe County that keeps the commission's original concept of a district that is completely in the city, but compacts the districts to the east and the west of the city. If the commission wishes to continue with the his is definitely more favorable than a wide spanning district.

This is a Monroe County-based State Senate map that recommends splitting the city along the Genesee River. This map is an alternative to the currently released plans that show the city being apart of one complete district. I mentioned this during my testimony at the Rochester meeting of the committee on 10/21.

This is a Monroe County-specific map that shows the alterations that I recommended during my testimony at the Rochester hearing on 10/21. The map pays greater attention to communities of interest in the city and puts Pittsford in a district that stays within Monroe County instead of pairing it with communities further south.

Redistricting should be nonpartisan. Broome county should not be paired with Ithaca. Broome county should remain in a district with Tioga and chenango counties. We have nothing in common with ithaca.

I am a long time resident of Co-Op City. One of my reasons for moving there was the diversity of it residents and surrounding district neighbors. As a social worker this is a topic which has been one of my focal points in my commitment to social justice. Collaborating with my fellow district members on how we as a community can work together to better support our youth and elderly population creating and supporting programs which are greatly needed in the district especially for Co-Op City and Mt. Vernon, Yonkers residents. I am deeply concerned about the plans to segment NY-16. This will have a huge impact on the equity across the district as we continue to work effortless on the issues of our community. Co-op city is one of the examples of how a diverse socio-economic community can work together for a brighter future for us all. The idea of removing us from the district will minimize the voices of black and brown voters. This is a blatant form of gerrymandering.

I would never approve of an “earmuff” district for Clarence, NY

The people of Congressional District 23 do not want to see our lines redrawn too dramatically. We are a rural area and it should remain that way to reflect our values and way of life. Do NOT lump Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties in with Erie county/ Greater Buffalo Area. That will only minimize the voices in the more rural counties. Keep the Chautauqua-Allegany region together.

Before I comment on the plans, I believe it's critical to publicly state that it's wholly obvious to anyone paying attention that Republicans cheat wherever and whenever they can.  When Republicans wield power--and sometimes even when they don't--their MO is to disenfranchise and disempower Democratic voters in every way/shape/form and they can't be trusted to engage fairly in the democratic process.  As such, it's tempting to support--even concoct--a plan that would strictly benefit Democrats and give the Republicans a taste of their own medicine...  However, I think we need to take a longer view and target fairness even though we understand the danger posed by Republicans in power.   With regard to the plans: Losing a congressional seat has considerable impact on districts, but based on my understanding of the communities of Western NY, both the Names and Letters Plans are acceptable as they capture the urban, suburban, rural dynamic of my area and legislative concerns could be fairly addressed and debated.  Considering the entire state, however, the Letters Plan is stronger--the north/south dividing lines better capture communities of interest and you don't end up with districts like STHPENNBRDR (running the entire expanse of the NY/PA line) or even GLOW. In terms of the NY Senate and the NY Assembly, the Letters Plan maps even look much simpler, straightforward, more contiguous, than the Names Plans. Similar to the Congressional District Letters Plan, the NY State Senate and Assembly districts appear more compact and if you consider the "character" of the Letter Plan maps, they appear to effectively maintain constituent communities. I appreciate this opportunity to comment--thank you.

As a resident of the Northeast Bronx for over 45 years, I am extremely concerned that there are plans to remove my community from NY-16. We are geographically more connected to Westchester County than other areas of the Bronx. It is imperative that there is equity across the district and we keep communities of interest together. We are the example of a diverse district, socio-economically & ethnically. The optics of removing us from the district appears to minimize the black and brown voter. This is gerrymandering.

As a constituent of NY-16, I do not want my vote gerrymandered. The Northeast Bronx, Mt. Vernon, New Rochelle, and Yonkers have similar interests including but not limited to healthcare, infrastructure, education, after-school, and community safety. We have been the “forgotten” areas and unheard voices which and now being silenced. Our voices matter.

Dear members of the NYSIRC I live in Windsor for Letters I'm in DW and for Names, I'm in D STHPENNBRDR looking at I think DW is way too big but D STHPENNBRDR may just be a little too small, I think for the people of my Community we need something in between. thank you for your time and consideration Sincerely, Bradley W. Thank you for the opportunity to submit testimony for your consideration as you reach a decision regarding redistricting in the Finger Lakes Region of New York. I am writing on behalf of Northeast Quadrant Advanced Life Support and Webster Emergency Medical Services, two organizations based in Webster, NY, serving residents in the towns of Webster, Penfield, Ontario, Richmond and surrounding areas. As an Emergency Medical Services agency it is vital to us to have access to a single representative for our concerns and needs, as demonstrated during the Pandemic these last 20 months. . The proposed maps has the Town of Webster separated from Wayne and Ontario counties. In my opinion these counties should have a single voice representing the constituency, not several, because our needs are closely aligned. Again, having one Senate representative work on this area’s concerns relating to these assets and challenges is invaluable to making sure there is a consistent and cohesive approach in solving problems. Please consider this request that the 54th Senate District representing Webster and the entirety of Wayne and Ontario Counties is left unchanged during your deliberations. Please call me at 585-329-1806 with any questions or if you would like to discuss my concerns regarding redistricting. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to participating in the hearing on October 21, 2021. Syed Ahmed Mustafa President/CEO and Paramedic Northeast Quadrant Advanced Life Support, Inc.
