The greenpoint redistricting plan makes absolutely no sense to me. why we would want to break up a vibrant unified neighborhood is absolutely beyond me. along with the fact, that a lot of my interests are specific to the area and not to queens. please do not split greenpoint, we are already isolated enough as a neighborhood.

For the past two years my husband and I have been working to renovate a derelict townhouse in Greenpoint with the hopes of it being our forever house when my husband retires from Cornell. The house is a 4-minute walk from our youngest daughter, her husband, and our two youngest grandchildren. We have come to very much appreciate the character of Greenpoint; it feels like a true neighborhood. Even though we don't live there yet we know many of the dogs, often by name! Slicing Greenpoint into two, and giving half to Queens (nothing wrong with Queens, but Greenpoint is in Brooklyn!) is a terrible, terrible idea. It will discourage civic participation. Why would a Greenpointer get involved in anything to do with Queens? Please keep Greenpoint together as a single unit, as part of Brooklyn.

Please keep Columbia County whole! It doesn't make sense to divide the county between NYS Assembly Districts - this will divide our communities and our common needs. Also, crucially, NYIRC’s proposed 107th AD violates the goal of compactness, stretching from the Dutchess County border north to the Washington County border and from the Massachusetts border west to the Delaware County border. This is a large and sprawling district that mixes urban and suburban areas with very rural areas, and divides communities in the process. Separating Ancram and Gallatin from the rest of Columbia County will result in those two small towns not being properly represented. We’ve experienced this before when the small towns of Stockport and Stuyvesant were included in the old 102nd AD. With the possible exception of its Northwestern region, Columbia County has a stronger connection to the Hudson Valley than the Capital District. Subsequently, Columbia County should be kept whole and paired with Dutchess County. Please don't divide Columbia County!!

Don’t divide Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, and Kensington. We are one community connected by schools, houses of worship, mass transit and parks. Keep the neighborhoods of the 44th Assembly District intact as they currently exist and have for over 30 years. I would like you to consider the reasons behind this plan. Which do not have the best interests of those living in these neighborhoods in mind. But do benefit wealthier Brooklynites.

New York Independent Redistricting Commission Members: As a resident of Columbia County I strongly believe it should be included in a compact Hudson Valley Assembly District since it does have a stronger connection to the Hudson Valley. NYIRC’s proposed 107th AD violates the goal of compactness, stretching from the Dutchess County border north to the Washington County border and from the Massachusetts border west to the Delaware County border. This is a large and sprawling district that includes urban and suburban areas with very rural areas. We fear that separating Ancram and Gallatin from the rest of Columbia County will result in those two small towns not being properly represented. Debora Winn Chatham NY

I live in Ancramdale and serve on the town board. Most people here are struggling to understand the proposed Redistricting . Ancram identifies happily as part of the greater Hudson Valley and feels well represented in Albany. Our rural constituency has little in common with the Capital region. Therefore I feel strongly that our district should stay the same as it is . Keeping it whole will more accurately and meaningfully represent our needs and issues. Thanks for your consideration. I, John Denegall, President of the Briarwood Community Association hereby request that Briarwood,NY be 100 percent domiciled in AD 25. Having one AD representative is far more effective for the Community since that AD Representative will have one view and the community will have one point of contact to get accurate information. I must also note that AD 25 office is physically closer to Briarwood making it a part of the actual community.
