I, along with my neighbors, friends, and community members, strongly oppose dissolving the 29th Congressional District. As residents of a rural county, our voices and our unique needs are already all but drowned out. We deserve and require the freedom of representation as the 29th District of NY. Please do not continue to overlook us.

I want to thank the commission for giving me the time to testify: My name is Fayga Muskat I am a member of the Jewish community of Central Queens. Currently, under the current maps, our community is divided between the 27th Assembly District and the 25th Assembly District. The neighborhoods of Kew Gardens Hills, Pomonok, Electchester, and Hillcrest are divided. I am asking this commission to take into account the unification of Kew Gardens Hills, Pomonok, Electchester, and Hillcrest so that Jewish representation is not diluted in this redistricting process. When this commission redraws the Assembly district lines, please incorporate all neighborhoods mentioned into one assembly district. The aforementioned neighborhoods in the south should be connected with College Point, Northern Whitestone, and Le Havre Cooperative in the north. Currently, the Jewish Community in Central Queens is split between 4 state senate districts. It does not allow for any conformity to representation in the State Senate. Your drafts have created a central Queens and Eastern Queens plan that incorporates parts of Kew Gardens Hills being split up again in three districts. Again, we need to be in one State Senate district. We are asking when you redraw your drafts that Kew Gardens Hills, Pomonok, Electchester, and Hillcrest be drawn into a Central Queens district with the neighborhoods of Northern Forest Hills, Middle Village, Glendale, Maspeth, and Ridgewood. Also, Please consider the Eastern Queens map as well, where the neighborhoods I mentioned as a block be included with Fresh Meadows, Oakland Gardens, Little Neck Douglaston, Bayside, and Bay Terrace. Consider your guide eastward between the Long Island Expressway and the Grand Central Parkway to the County Line, before heading strictly north. Please make every effort to keep Kew Gardens Hills, Pomonok, Electchester, and Hillcrest together in both an Assembly District as well as one State Senate district.

Please find the bullet points for any testimony for tomorrows Redistricting Hearing. • Roosevelt Island is a natural part of the 12th Congressional District and the 76th Assembly District. Roosevelt Island borders the East River abutting both the Manhattan portion of the 76th Assembly District and the Queens and Manhattan portions of the 12th Congressional District. • The 147 acres that make up Roosevelt Island are located in the East River, in the borough of Manhattan. They have a Manhattan zip code (10044) • Roosevelt Island is under the political jurisdiction of Manhattan, but it receives its police, sanitation and fire services from Queens. Naturally, the part of Queens from which it receives such services is also located in the 12th Congressional district. For example, the 114th Precinct, which provides police protection for residents of the island, is located in the Queens portion of the 12th Congressional District, . • Roosevelt Island is connected to Manhattan through the tram and the subway. • Road access comes through the 12th Congressional District in Queens. • Roosevelt Island is part of Community Board 8, which represents the Upper East Side and Yorkville which falls within the jurisdiction of both the 76th Assembly District and 12th Congressional District . • The only school on the island, PS/IS 217 (K‑8), falls under the jurisdiction of Community School District #2, the East Side School district which represents all of the schools within the 76th Assembly District • The New York Public Library lists the Roosevelt Island Branch as a Manhattan library. • The new Cornell Tech campus on Roosevelt Island is affiliated with other Cornell Schools in Manhattan -- like the Weill Cornell Medical School and 570 Lexington Ave which houses the Cornell Industrial and Labor Relations Conference Center, the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, Cornell University Cooperative Extension-New York City and more than a dozen other programs. Thank you!!

As one who has worked in County Government for close to 40 years, I'm aware of the challenges faced by our residents in rural Western NY. It is imperative that we stay in a congressional district with similar counties. We have nothing in common with the northern larger counties with cities that are thousands larger than our entire county. We would have no voice at all in our district if we are forced to be a part of either the district that includes Erie County or the one that includes Monroe County. We are just so very different and our need are so very different. Please reconsider your re-districting plan and keep us where we are. We have needs here in our district as do others in their districts but we deserve a chance to have a member of congress that represent us and knows our needs versus no representation, because that is where we are headed if our district is absorbed to the north. We are a small county of 46,000 plus people. We stand by our county and our neighbors but just don't fit with big cities and urban communities. Respectfully, Terri L. Ross, Allegany County Treasurer Terri L. Ross, resident of the Village of Angelica in Allegany County

Regarding Senate district 33, Residents of West bronx including Fordham Hill and Bailey Houses would be subject to a senator who's center of power may be in Riverdale and parts of Manhattan. I ask we keep these University Heights neighborhoods stay among the Kingsbridge Bedford Park Fordham Third Avenue Belmont neighborhoods together and not commingled with Riverdale and Manhattan.
