I respectfully disagree with the proposed 107 Assembly district. This district is unwieldy spreading across several counties. There are three major reasons to keep the present 107 boundaries: 1. This district stretches north to Washington county and west to Delaware county. Thus combining suburban, small cities and very rural areas together. Such a district would have many different needs and concerns which seems impossible for one Assembly person to address. 2. This district would split the towns of Ancram and Gallatin from this district and align them to another district. People in Columbia County identify with the county no matter their town thus potentially leaving them without true representation. 3. Most of Columbia County is connected and identifies with the Hudson Valley not the Capital District. Keeping Columbia County aligned to Dutchess County is keeping two counties with similar populations and concerns connected. I respectfully ask for the committee to review their decision and keep in mind the idea of geographic continuity and population demographics. Please keep Columbia County and Dutchess County together. Regards, Sally B. Naramore Kinderhook, New York

I’ve been a resident of Greenpoint, Brooklyn for over 20 years. During that time I have moved around to different areas, but have been in this community for the entire duration of my life in NYC. I have two children, one at PS110 and one who is was at ps110 from pre-k thru 5th grade before moving on to middle school. I am flabbergasted as to why the decision has been made to suddenly divide our community along McGuinness BLVD and incorporate it into an already bloated queens district?! We as a community are very energized and devoted to caring for each-other. With all of the EPA issues we’ve dealt and are currently dealing with as a community, the complexities and backgrounds of our neighbors….we have a shared interest in one another’s well-being, and deserve to have the same representation. I am fully opposed to the dividing this community and furious about this proposal. I ask that you please keep our district as it is, a representation of the community in which it lies. Thank you, Tracey Tierney

I'm in Assembly District 44--I live in a small neighborhood between Prospect Park and Greenwood Cemetery. The redistricting plan would cut this small neighborhood in half and this is a rotten idea. Robert Moses used highways to create ghettos. Don't go down this route. Also in the great annals of nincompoopery it begs belief that you would cut my nabe in half and then have me vote in a different district you've created for reasons only you know and which I do not trust.

I live in Windsor Terrace Brooklyn, Kings County, New York in the 44th Assembly District. The new, planned map cuts my neighborhood in half. If my community wants to advocate to our elected officials, in future we would have to approach two Assemblypersons. This makes no sense. I notice you are doing the same thing to our neighbors in Kensington, Brooklyn. I grew up in Pleasantville New York. Checking the planned map for that area, it does not cut Pleasantville in half. Just because we are an urban neighborhood/community we should not be penalized. Thank you for your attention, Phyllis A Sears

I live in Windsor Terrace in District 44, in the area between Greenwood Cemetery and Prospect Park. Despite the highway, that area is a single small neighborhood. Thanks to the several bridges across it, the highway is not a significant barrier. It's a short walk from the 16th St side across the 10th Ave bridge to take my granddaughter to pre K at the former Bishop Ford school. The school is also our voting place. Despite what it may look like on a map, to break up this neighborhood makes no sense.

The Independent Redistricting Commission is proposing to cut my residence in Windsor Terrace out of the 44th Assembly District. The proposed plan is following the Robert Moses plan and divides Windsor Terrace via the Prospect Expressway. Everything South of the Prospect Expressway in Windsor Terrace would now be lumped in with the Sunset Park District. This however is not acceptable as Greenwood Cemetery geographically divides those of us who live on this side of the expressway from Sunset Park. Therefore we have no political connection to Sunset Park and other neighborhoods on that side of the cemetery. As a suggestion, a better division line would be along MacDonald Avenue along the Eastern border of Greenwood Cemetery. This would keep those of us who live in this portion of Windsor Terrace in the same Assembly district as our neighbors and local businesses that we frequent as customers. We are one community connected by schools, houses of worship, mass transit, parks and local businesses. The Commission marginalizes citizens and weakens their voice by spreading citizens among several representatives. Keep the neighborhoods of the 44th Assembly District intact as they currently exist and have for over 30 years. Sincerely, Alison Beal Registered Voter 56 E 5th St, Brooklyn

It makes no sense to draw lines along the Prospect Expressway to divide Windsor Terrace. Our NEIGHBORHOOD is not part of Sunset Park - WT/Kensington are of a piece. We are one community connected by schools, houses of worship, mass transit and parks. The Commission marginalizes citizens and weakens their voice by spreading citizens among several representatives. Keep the neighborhoods of the 44th Assembly District intact as they currently exist and have for over 30 years

Kensington and Windsor Terrace is a vibrant community that has worked together to solve local issues or over 30 years. Do not divide part of Windsor Terrace into Sunset Park but keep us with Kensington and Park Slope. We are united by schools, houses of worship and community activism. The cemetary divides us from the Sunset Park Community. This redistricting is outrageous and breaks off our community from the rest of KWT.

Keep the 44th AD as is. The redistricting plan that divides up the 44th AD is ahistorical. The proposed new district lines do the opposite of their mandate, which is to keep neighborhoods intact. Our neighborhoods should not be divided by the arbitrary boundaries the Commission is looking at. Windsor Terrace, Park Slope and Kensington form an extended, connected community and have endured for many years, even after being sliced by the Gowanus Expwy. Keep the neighborhoods of the 44th Assembly District intact as they currently exist and have for over 30 years Don’t divide Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, and Kensington. We are one community connected by schools, houses of worship, mass transit and parks.

As a long time NY resident and voter, I find it a terrible idea by the committee to split AD50 eastern half of Greenpoint and having it become part of AD38. AD38 a Queens-centric district that would represent at least five different neighborhoods including Greenpoint, Long Island City, Maspeth, Glendale, and Rego Park. While I grew up in Queens, including Rego Park, I as a Brookline resident want my home, my neighborhood to be represented as whole. My interests, my neighborhood, has different needs than those of Queens residents. By splitting the neighborhood representation apart, you are guaranteeing that my and my neighbors' needs are not well represented. Is it not enough that we already have to deal with the G train that is the step child of the city subway system, the polluted waters that were overlooked by corrupted politician, you are now repeating history, by splitting the neighborhood that has been thriving. Greenpoint needs to remain under representation of Brooklyn focused elected officials. Splitting representation will hurt residents.

I am a resident of Greenpoint, the 50th assembly district and I reject the redistricting proposal to split Greenpoint in two. There is so much at stake right now with the new McGuinness resign. There is no reason to split the district and lump it into a district in Queens that has very different needs than our own. Keep the lines drawn as they are, dividing Greenpoint will cause more harm than good.

Hello, I’m writing as a long time Brooklyn dweller. Asking that the assembly lines for Greenpoint to REMAIN in Brooklyn during this upcoming 2024 election. Please keep this community whole, as it’s always been!
