AD50 should not be split in two. Greenpoint, Brooklyn is a longstanding and strong neighborhood, which would not benefit from this redistricting. Please keep AD50 together.

I am an elected Democratic District Leader and State Committee Member from Assembly District 52 in Brooklyn. I believe that there are big issues with the way that the boundaries of Assembly Districts 44, 52, and 57 have been drawn in the proposed Assembly Map. Firstly, I oppose how the current draft Assembly Map draws me and my neighborhood out of the very district that I represent. Cutting the vast majority of my neighborhood of Park Slope out of Assembly District 52 goes against historical precedent — the neighborhood has been included in Assembly District 52 since at least 2002. Additionally, drawing the majority white and high voter turnout neighborhoods of Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, and Gowanus into Assembly District 44 changes the center of gravity of this district away from the more diverse neighborhood of Kensington, ultimately resulting in worse representation for the growing South Asian community in that neighborhood. Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, and Gowanus generally have demographic and voting patterns that fit better with Assembly District 52 than with Assembly District 44. Finally, Flatbush Ave is the most natural boundary line between Assembly Districts 52 and 57, since it serves as the dividing line between multiple neighborhoods. Instead, the current draft proposal cuts pieces of Fort Greene and Prospect Heights out of 57 and into 52, unnecessarily splitting up the neighborhoods. I wish that the finalized Assembly plan would have a 52nd Assembly District closer to the one drawn here: https://districtr.org/plan/170919. Sincerely, Lydia Green

Hello, as a resident of Greenpoint, Brooklyn I write in strong opposition to the proposal to divide Greenpoint into two districts. This is a proposal that completely disregards the fabric of the community and its needs, which are unique from the needs of the areas of Queens which the eastern section of Greenpoint would be lumped into. It is imperative to keep Greenpoint as a unified neighborhood with unified representation as it has historically and currently functions so that our needs as an entire community will be properly heard and represented.

KEEP GREENPOINT WHOLE!!!! We are a tight night community and issues in this neighborhood are unique and effect all of us. We deserve representation as a whole neighborhood that reflects the way we all exist here. Please do not redistrict and send half greenpointers to queens district. It is harmful for our community

I submit my recommendation of a redistricting map. https://districtr.org/plan/170796 The current proposal that includes Queens and Manhattan divided by the East River, does not serve either side properly. These two areas have different needs and different population. What may be OK for one side will probably not serve the other. I suggested a map that includes the Manhattan east Side with Broadway as the limit going West. That is a more homogenous area and will be much better served with a representative that is focused on the needs of this population.. Choosing arbitrary zones that have no common needs is a disservice to everyone. I trust that you will consider the East River as a natural limit going East and reconsider the proposed map, Thank You Rick Kaminer 60 Sutton Pl S New York, NY 10022

I am writing in opposition to the Draft Assembly Plan which removes a portion of the the 52nd assembly district and places it in the 44th assembly district. For over thirty years, I have been a resident of the small neighborhood of Carroll Gardens which is a part of the 52nd Assembly District. During that time the adjoining neighborhoods of Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, and Boerum Hill (sometimes referred to as BoCoCa) have been part of the 52nd assembly district These neighborhoods are long established communities in interest sharing the vibrant walkable commercial corridors of Smith and Court Streets, bus routes, parks schools, a police precinct, a library, medical facilities, etc. Carroll Gardens contains a very small historic district and this proposed plan cuts off the north side of President Street between Smith and Hoyt Streets and places it in another assembly district. A landmarked historic district is certainly a community in interest that should remain intact and in one district. The close knit neighborhoods of Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, and Carroll Gardens neighborhoods are communities of interest and should remain intact. Additionally, the 52nd assembly district contains the entirety of the northern portion of the Gowanus Canal superfund site corridor. Almost every lot along the canal has not only been designated a state brownfield but are also in a FEMA flood zone. Given the environmental and technical complexities of the Gowanus Canal corridor, it should be in one district as it has been for decades. The plan also places what has been for many decades the district office for the 52nd in the 44th. This district office should remain in the 52nd along the above mentioned neighborhoods of Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Boerum Hill, and the Gowanus Canal corridor.

Hello, Today, I am submitting my comment to express my strong disagreement on the proposed assembly line which would cut our Greenpoint community in half. This does not make sense for us if half of us will be a part of a different borough Queens as our culture of Greenpoint is distinctively different from the part of Queens NYS is planning to put East of Greenpoint with. Greenpoint is such a close-knit community. If our community is cut in half like the proposed plan, it would feel as if NYS does not care about everyday life of people of this community that we are building with our fellow Greenpointers. The proposed plan was really upsetting for us to look at and I do strongly disagree with the proposed plan and ask NYS to reconsider it to keep Greenpoint as whole. Thank you. Akiko Matsuura

Hello, Thanks for the opportunity to share our concerns with the proposed maps. The proposal to remove part of Greenpoint from its logical district (AD50) and place it in a Queens dominated district will dis-empower this entire segment of Greenpoint. We share transport lines with the rest of Greenpoint and Brooklyn, we are under Brooklyn Borough leadership, and our local organizations are community-wide, not separated at McGuinness Blvd. The split of North Brooklyn denies us the ability to function as one community and places neighbors at odds with respect to funding for various programs including education, mass transit, economic development, infrastructure repairs and environmental remediation. The separation of North Brooklyn is a direct threat to organizers and community members who have worked together to accomplish important climate resiliency, mitigation, and clean-up projects and ensure city/state funding for this work. I ask that you keep Greenpoint together as a clear and long-established community of interest. Sincerely, Summer W

I am a resident of the 27th Assembly District. It is my understanding that a new set of maps are being drawn. I would like to voice my support of the current lines. I ask that you keep the southern portion boundaries as is. Please use Union Turnpike as the southern boundary. 164th street as the eastern boundary, and the Van Wyck as the western boundary. Ensuring that all of Kew Gardens Hills is within 27th Assembly District was a promise you kept in your last drafts after testimony. To ensure there is no separation of communities, please add the co ops north of the Cross Island Parkway in Beechhurst to our district. This will ensure communities in the Assembly District are kept whole. Below you will find a link of the map we would like to see as your final draft. https://Districtr.org/plan/161970 I ask that you fulfill this ask from our community again. Thank you! Nechama Sakal

I heard about the possibility of redistricting in Chester NY that will split our small town into two Assembly districts. I agree with others that this will harm our residents' representation and voice. We should continue to be together in one district. Thank you for your time and consideration.
