Splitting Greenpoint's AD50 As a Greenpoint resident for over a decade, living both North and South of McGuiness boulevard, I agree that one of the first things that you learn about this neighborhood is the long standing and devastating influence of McGuinness boulevard in splitting the neighborhood. So much work has been done to undo this, to make McGuiness safe, and to incorporate North Greenpoint into the rest of the neighborhood. We all have the same priorities, same environmental concerns, same families, visit the same parks, go to the same schools. There is a whole community that has been built in spite of poor decisions made by Robert Moses, et al, during a time when at least we could say we didn't know better. This redistricting would undo years and years of work to build back a neighborhood that has a number of important and unique interests. Instead, it would continue down a path of placing government interests above those of the community it is supposed to serve.

I live in AD50 and want to express my disapproval of dividing the Greenpoint community and splitting our assembly district. The district encompasses a community that has many common concerns for our representative. Moving half of our district members to Queens is a disservice to both the people being represented in both boroughs. The current district map achieves the necessary numbers and keeps our neighborhood under one representative. Greenpoint should be kept while as part of AD50.

I am a resident of the 27th Assembly District. It is my understanding that a new set of maps are being drawn. I would like to voice my support of the current lines. I ask that you keep the southern portion boundaries as is. Please use Union Turnpike as the southern boundary. 164th street as the eastern boundary, and the Van Wyck as the western boundary. Ensuring that all of Kew Gardens Hills is within 27th Assembly District was a promise you kept in your last drafts after testimony. To ensure there is no separation of communities, please add the co ops north of the Cross Island Parkway in Beechhurst to our district. This will ensure communities in the Assembly District are kept whole. Below you will find a link of the map we would like to see as your final draft. https://Districtr.org/plan/161970 I ask that you fulfill this ask from our community again

Greetings and thank you for your time. I'm writing to submit my strong disagreement with the proposed splitting of my home neighborhood, Greenpoint, Brooklyn, into two separate districts. As a resident living east of McGuiness Boulevard, being lumped into a majority Queens-based district that includes Long Island City makes no sense. Greenpoint is a community, and it deserves to be represented as a community, not split in two. Please reconsider these redistricting lines. Thank you.

I have lived in Greenpoint, Brooklyn for 12 years. The proposed redistricting would cut this close knit neighborhood in half, adding a large piece of it to the neighboring Queens district. The river is the divide between Queens and Brooklyn, why our neighborhood should be cut in half makes no sense. Please leave Greenpoint, with it's strong history (I happen to live in the founder of Greenpoint's house!) and strong sense of community whole. I work and live in this neighborhood. The people of Greenpoint do not want to be chopped in half for political "gain". Need I remind you what redistricting in NY wrought in our last election?

Why is district 26 currently thrown in with Nassau County? Queens is a borough of New York City and our voices are being silenced by being clumped in with Nassau County Republicans. It is because of this disgraceful district map that we have a liar representing us in Congress (George Santos). I demand that Queens get their own representative. Our values are more aligned with our neighbors in Bellerose District 33 than they are with Long Island Trump supporters and Insurrectionists.

I have been living in Greenpoint, Brooklyn (11222) for 11.5 years. I live east of McGuinness Blvd, which is the newly proposed dividing line between districts and if approved would move my home to an overwhelmingly Queens district including Long Island City, Maspeth, Glendale and Rego Park. After moving from Astoria, Queens in 2011, I chose to live in Greenpoint for the strong sense of community I felt there. I love living in Brooklyn and fear that if just my small portion of Brooklyn falls in another district, we would be neglected in favor of Queens priorities. Our assembly member and councilmember have been working tirelessly to improve the safety of McGuinness Boulevard (which would be split between the 2 districts) which is a priority of mine as well. Cars and trucks use McGuinness to speed between the BQE and the Pulaski Bridge to Queens, and has resulted in many accidents and deaths. Additionally, further east from me is the Meeker Avenue Plume, Superfund site, which demands consistent oversight to ensure that the EPA is doing its part in the cleanup. I respectfully request that you reevaluate the redistricting lines as they are being proposed and keep Greenpoint whole.
