North Winton Village, in the City of Rochester, is an inclusive neighborhood for all including :cultural, ethnic ,racial , age, gender , sexual orientation, religious beliefs and many different economic levels. We are all volunteers and have worked hard , for many years to raise the quality of life for all the citizens of North Winton Village. Our boundaries extend North to East Irondequoit, South to University Ave., East to Winton Road, and West to Culver Rd. The Board of North Winton Village stands firm that we will not be divided especially by government. We want to stay as a whole in Assembly District 138. We thank you for looking at and correcting this oversight which divides our neighborhood. Sincerely, The Board of North Winton Village Our North boundary line is E. I would split staten island in 2. We deserve to have diverse representation that is more in line with our race, demographics and political affiliations. Splitting Staten island along the SI "mason Dixon Line" - Route 278 - would free the moderate north shore from the conservative and extreme south shore. Along with the north shore of Staten Island and all the communities north of the expressway, I would pair the North Shore with Bay Ridge, Fort Hamilton, Bensonhurst, as well as, in the other direction, Sunset Park, red hook, and parts of Park Slope, assuming this number gets us to the required ~750k representation. These communities have similar working class values, housing densities, waterfront issues, and rich political demographics that wouldn't be categorized as extreme. For the south shore communities south of 278, I would pair the communities on Staten Island from Midland Beach (maybe South Beach otherwise it can go to the North Shore if needed), with seagate, Coney Island and Gerritsen Beach. Ideally I would love to pair Coney Island with the North Shore as there are so many analogous issues with neglected areas and dilapidated waterfront and development, but maybe diverse reprensentation can help both, as being in the same senate representation has not helped the Stapelton and St George waterfront not the Coney Island waterfront. Additionally, if needed we should go into the areas of battery city and lower Manhattan. As this may bot seem obvious to some, The North Shore if Staten Island, as well as a lot of greater staten island, works in. the lower FiDi community. There is a synchronicity there and the commuter culture of Many community in the North Shore fits nicely with the interests of lower Manhattan Finally, I think it is important to weigh the Unity Coalitions Maps Studies heavily in this assessment.

I live in Far Rockaway and our district should NOT be further redistricted. We have to learn from history. Germans used redistricting against Jewish people where they redistricted communities and created ghettos with lack of amenities and the onlyones who benefited from the redistricting were the Kapos( the Administrators) that the Germans used. Kapos were fellow Jewish people who were used to keep their own people down. The more they kept their people down the higher they rose. Allowing the redistricting is continuing this barbaric history with a different population. The East side of Far Rockaway is lumped with low income neighborhoods and the West End is with affluent neighborhoods. Now you further want exclude affluent neighborhoods from the Rockaways We cant lump poor with poor. We shouldn't even have 2 districts we need one district. The only one benefitting from.redistricting are Politicians who only care about rising up while keeping the masses down. The East end has little amenities and we can't let the ROCKAWAYS further deteriote by having it redistricting with Brooklyn and Nassau County. That is not benefitting the people. Instead of redistricting voter need to vote people out of their Congresional.dustrict and hold.them.accountable

Here is my map proposal. It adds a heavily Asian district in Brooklyn. Additionally, 10 of 26 districts are in the competitive zone with a PVI under 5. Map draft: https://davesredistricting.org/join/d3aad641-29f5-4ede-9257-c9487e9d1faa

I urge you to set aside political differences and do what’s right for the people of New York. This is the inaugural Independent Redistricting Commission in New York State. Please don't waste all the work that you have done, engaging with citizens across the state on what they considered their communities of interest and their suggestions for improvements to the proposed maps by giving the legislature the power to draw the maps on its own.

As a citizen of the USA and New York State, my right to vote and have an equal voice with all other citizens is a right I hold dear and a right that is an essential component of democracy. In light of this I also have a responsibility to be an informed voter. As my representative on the "Independent Redistricting Committee" I feel you have a responsibility to put aside partisan politics and draw district lines on the basis of population and common sense. If you are truly independent then you will be amenable to ensuring each person's voice has equal status under the law. I trust that you will act with an eye to this when drawing up district maps and that you will put ego and party affiliation aside. Please do not disappoint me. Sincerely- Lewellyne Blanchard

I hope the Independent Redistricting Commission and NYS Legislature will work with a sense of urgency to finalize and approve district boundaries well in advance of the April 4th filing deadline for primary candidates. The current redistricting deadlines are incompatible with the new June combined state and federal primary date. Those deadlines need to be moved up. Failing to do so would compromise participation in the political process. Thank you.

Dear Commissioners, I hope you will consider keeping the Cortland and Ithaca communities within Legislative District 125. The Cortland-Tompkins County affiliations run deep and we have many common areas of concern: economic, social, educational, cultural and agricultural. Please consider the proposed map at the url indicated below: https://districtr.org/plan/96769 Additionally, I hope you will work to complete your map proposals by January 15th so there is ample time for primary candidates to file ahead of the April 4th deadline. Thank you, Diane S. Chu
