Dear Sir/Madam, Please do not divide Brookhaven Town into two congressional districts. First, you would be separating Stony Brook University from Brookhaven National Lab, two institutions that are linked in terms of ownership, economics and research. Second, the committee is supposed to consider the impact on communities of interest, including populations that share cultural or historical characteristics or economic interests. Brookhaven Town has a strong shared community of interest, based on historical, economic, scientific, academic, environmental and cultural interests. Splitting the Town into two Congressional Districts as proposed under the Congressional Letter Draft would cause great harm and damage our economy, civic institutions and feeling of shared history and current purpose. Thank you, Amy Turner

Kindly reconsider the current plan to split the Town of Brookhaven into two parts as proposed by the current Democratic Congressional Draft map. Stony Brook University and Brookhaven National Lab are tied together by shared ownership and economic interests and ought to be represented by the same member of Congress. It would also serve to divide communities that share cultural and historical interests, whether they be historical or economic or both. Thank you for your consideration.

College Point, Queens is substantially similar to the neighborhoods of Whitestone and Bayside. The “letters” plan lumps College Point in with the Bronx and communities that are not at all similar to the low density residential housing in Queens. In this proposal College Point is the only neighborhood in Queens county that is in included in this district. This means that College Point will be separated by a bridge and a toll from the rest of the district and the officials who represent it. The “names” plan is much better in this regard as it keeps the communities of Northeastern Queens united.

Keep Jamaica, Queens intact. It's rich history and culture demand preservation and my roots go back this beloved area to 1955. I even attended PS 36Q as a 1st grader with the bulk of my life devoted to this area's enhancement. The "Mural of Fame" on Linden Blvd near 180th street is "an international treasure" and must be preserved as well. Henry Hagins

NY 21 needs to stay intact!! The North Country has many connections that bind us together. Fort Drum/Watertown have far reaching economic and social impacts all across NY21. The entire region is also tied to the US/Canadian Border and the Seaway. The Border is a huge factor for this district. Economic, tourism, agriculture and family relationships should not be divided among congressional district lines. Please keep us all together under NY 21. Kevin Mulverhill, Franklin County Sheriff

Keep Jamaica intact. Residents will lose out altogether if this redistricting is not checked. Being broken into "piecemeal" districts dilutes the power of residents to benefit from local services/actions in any meaningful way.

We thank the Commission for your attention to our request that the Senatorial District 38 be redrawn to include the Village and Town of Ossining, New York totally within Westchester County as shown on the Letter Map. It is important that our community be reattached to the surrounding communities that share our geography, diverse populations, and issues concerns. The Names Map perpetuates the mistakes of 10 years ago; this time attaching a small part of rural Rockland to the larger section of Westchester,
